Who are the employees of Seafarers' House San Juan?

SHSJ has a small circle of employees trained and determined to meet the goals of the center and ensure the comfort of all the seafarers who visit us. SHSJ focuses on promoting a positive work environment where employees can successfully perform the established goals. Through this positive work environment, SHSJ employees increase productivity, collaboration, and communication.

Sharon: Sharon A. Joubert Bernard, 35, has been working at SHSJ for 11 years, 5 of them as the Manager. Joubert studied Marketing at University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras. She takes delight in reading and watching television. Sharon is responsible, kind, and loyal. She enjoys working at SHSJ because its an innovative center that helps seafarers gain the quality time they need for themselves to communicate with their families. Sharon also understands that it is necessary for SHSJ to try doing different things in the work environment that involves creativity and companionship.

Lilliam: Lilliam “Li, Lin” Alvarado Jurado, 51, has been around for 11 years. Lilliam began as a Concierge at SHSJ and is currently Assistant Manager. She studied Word Processing and Secretarial Sciences at Monroe College in New York. Li enjoys scrapbooking, spending time with her grandchildren and sleeping. She is sincere, goofy and a fighter. Lilliam enjoys working at SHSJ because she likes working with people and likes meeting people from different countries and cultures. She believes anyone can acquire knowledge of an industry not many people know about if they work hard.

Jorge: Jorge “Ricky” Ricardo Marín Jiménez, 39, started as concierge and is currently an Assistant at SHSJ and has been a part of the team for 6 years. Jorge studied Computer Programming at Triton College and Tourism at “Instituto de Banca y Comercio”. He enjoys traveling, reading, and going out with his friends. Jorge is helpful, friendly, and responsible. He enjoys working at SHSJ because he likes working in customer service. He also believes it’s an excellent work environment and takes pleasure in talking to the seafarers and visiting the cruise ships.

Ariana: Ariana “Ari” Muñoz Maurás, 23, has been the Concierge at SHSJ for 3 years. Ariana studied Economics and Human Rights at University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus and is currently studying Demographics at University of Puerto Rico, Medical Science Campus. She finds pleasure in visiting the beach, watching TV series, and eating. Ari is creative, determined, and cheerful. She enjoys working at SHSJ because she understands the importance of providing a comfortable experience where seafarers can enjoy themselves.

Pedro: Pedro “Pello” Calderón Lanzó, 53, has been the Handyman at SHSJ for 2 years. Pedro studied Construction and is currently studying Electricity at NUC University in Puerto Rico. He enjoys watching movies, going to the gym, and visiting places around the island. Pello is humorous, tolerant, and humble. He enjoys working at SHSJ because he loves what he does at his job and has a says he has a great boss and coworkers.

Without a doubt, SHSJ has a diverse work team with different backgrounds, qualities, and abilities. Despite the things that make us unique, SHSJ employees keep a productive atmosphere of teamwork, openness and fun. For these and many other reasons, SHSJ will continue to open its doors and continue to provide activities, smiles, support, and the quality customer service that seafarers love.
